Firewheel Town Center is a large open air shopping mall in Garland, TX that was first conceptualized in 1984. Construction began in 2003 and opened in 2005 with nearly 1,000,000 square feet of retail space. Equally impressive are the large parking lots All State Paving provided that surround the mall.
The affordability of the Garland area created explosive growth in the 1950s to 1970s, with a steady 5% increase in population for the past several years. The Firewheel project was a much needed shopping area with a welcoming atmosphere thanks to its “new urbanism” design style. Visitors can walk along the well-maintained landscaping and enjoy the modern architecture, while the underlying design objective was to provide easy vehicle access to the shopping center. The curved parking lots and one-of-a-kind layout of the Firewheel mall created unique difficulties for All State Paving to plan and overcome. The job was executed flawlessly and this shopping center’s pavement will accomodate heavy car traffic for years to come.
